Storyline
Depois de estudar na capital, a jovem Cate, 18 anos, volta a sua cidadezinha no interior de Minas Gerais, para dar aulas na escola primária. Entusiasmada, livre e comunicativa, ela conquista os alunos no ato, mas seu comportamento de vanguarda não agrada às professoras conservadoras da década de 40.
A cada dia ela traz ideias novas. Ao mesmo tempo em que descobrem o prazer de aprender, os amigos da escola também têm as primeiras aulas sobre amor, amizade e liberdade. E a professorinha não conquista só os alunos: os rapazes mais bonitos da cidade caem de amores por ela. Criada por Tia Cida e sobrinha do Monsenhor Aristides, Cate cresceu junto com o afilhado do tio, Beto, que se tornou padre e volta à cidade depois de ter estudado fora.
